Birthstone Challenge #11 Topaz: OPI Goldeneye sponging

Time is going by so fast lately, and here we are for November's episode of the Birthstone Challenge. This month's stone is the topaz, a stone which has a very ancient history, in fact the Egyptians believed that yellow topaz was given its color by the Sun God, Ra. Like all semi-precious stones, topaz comes in a wide range of colors. It is white in its pure form, though the most common shades are pale blue and yellow, which is the rarest and most valuable kind: imperial topaz.
Il tempo sta passando in fretta e siamo già arrivati all'appuntamento di novembre della Birthstone Challenge. Questo mese parliamo del topazio, una pietra che risale a tempi molto antichi; difatti gli egiziani credevano che il topazio giallo ricevesse il suo colore dal dio sole, Ra. Come tutte le pietre semi-preziose, anche il topazio può essere trovato in una vasta gamma di colori. Tra i più comuni l'azzurro e il giallo, la varietà più rara e costosa: il topazio imperiale.

I knew the perfect shade to recreate a yellow topaz was going to be OPI Goldeneye, but when I was about to add top coat, I decided to add something more. I took a kitchen sponge and some black nail polish to create some shadows on the surface of the nails, like a real topaz.
Sapevo già che lo smalto più adatto per l'occasione sarebbe stato OPI Goldeneye, un vero topazio imperiale, ma al momento dell'aggiunta top coat ho voluto un tocco in più. Ho preso una spugnetta da cucina e ho spugnettato il nero sull'oro. Volevo creare l'effetto di luce-ombra proprio del topazio.
