This week I wanted to talk to you about a few products that Imec Nails (Color Club's Italian distributor) has sent me to review. Today I will tell you my thoughts on three products: a nail polish, a top coat, and a matte top coat. Let's get into the review.
Questa settimana voglio parlarvi di alcuni prodotti che Imec Nails (distributore italiano di Color Club) mi ha inviato a scopo di recensione. Oggi vi dirò le mie impressioni su tre prodotti: uno smalto, un top coat normale e un top coat opacizzante. Cominciamo!
Color Club - Style Icon is a dark, vampy red with cold magenta undertones. It's a sheer crelly formula that will require three coats for full opacity. I only did two coats in the photos, so that's why the color isn't as dark as in the bottle.
Color Club - Style Icon è un rosso scuro e vampiresco dai sottotoni freddi color magenta. Si tratta di un crelly non molto coprente, quindi avrete bisogno di tre passate per una coprenza ottimale. Nelle foto ne vedrete due, per questo il colore sembra leggermente meno scuro che nella boccetta.
As for top coat, I tried the Color Club - Plush Coat and I wasn't impressed. It dried really glossy but to a slightly tacky finish, and after an hour it still wasn't completely dry. Hence the little dots on my index finger (I touched the nail polish with my fingertips while I was taking photos).
Come top coat ho provato il Color Club - Plush Coat e non mi ha entusiasmata. Il finish era molto brillante ma era quasi appiccicoso, e dopo un'ora non era ancora del tutto asciutto. Come vedete, sull'indice ho i segni del mio polpastrello (ho toccato l'unghia mentre facevo le foto - giammai).
Then I also tried a nail art with using the Matte-ified Top Coat, and it was bad. As you can see from the photo, the top coat didn't mattify the nails completely (the index nail isn't mattified at all) and it left unflattering streaks. I took out a couple of other mattifying top coats just to check if the top coat underneath was the problem, but they worked just fine. I also tried the matte top coat on other nail polishes, without regular top coat underneath, and the end result was the same streaky mess.
In seguito ho provato a fare una nail art usando il Matte-ified Top Coat, ed è andata male. Come potete notare nella foto, il top coat non ha opacizzato le unghie completamente (l'indice è rimasto lucido) e ha lasciato delle strisce molto evidenti sull'unghia. Ho provato un paio di top coat opacizzanti per vedere se il top coat fosse il problema, ma questi hanno reso l'unghia opaca senza problemi. Ho provato il top coat su altri smalti ma il risultato è stato un insieme di strisce orripilanti.
Overall I can say that I loved Style Icon, but as far as the top coats are concerned I was very disappointed. I tried everything to make them work because I know how demanding I can be, but in the end the products didn't live up to my expectations. It's always sad to write a bad review though...

Nel complesso posso dire che Style Icon è uno smalto splendido, ma per quanto riguarda i top coat sono rimasta molto delusa. Ho provato di tutto proprio perché so quanto io possa essere esigente, ma alla fine dei giochi questi due prodotti non hanno soddisfatto le mie aspettative. Scrivere una recensione negativa rimane sempre molto triste...
